Norwegian shoegazers The Megaphonic Thrift are finally releasing their 2015 album, Sun Stare Sound, in the U.S., out this week (4/7) via Old Flame. (It’s been a while.) It’s easily the poppiest record the band have made, and that bit of sunshine works well with their hazy sound. (It won a 2015 Spellman Award, which is basically a Norwegian Grammy.) A great example is the cheery “Interlopers” which comes near the start of the record. “We wanted to make a song that sounded kind of happy and playful,” the band told us. “It might feel like that musically, but the lyrics reveals a darker and kind of trippy side to it, like hanging up side down in a ride in an amusement park. Scared and happy at the same time.” Check out “Interlopers” and another track from the album, below.
