Not Dead Yet

Not Dead Yet 2016 initial lineup (GLOSS, Turnstile, etc) ++ Lock playing NYC

Possibly North America’s premier punk/hardcore festival and the closest heir apparent to Chaos in Tejas (RIP), Not Dead Yet, returns for the 2016 year on October 13-16. Again the Toronto fest comes hard, dropping a mixed bag of everything from the buzziest band in the hardcore world to the buzziest in the punk underground, with names like Turnstile, G.L.O.S.S. (who have a new EP), Barcelona, Waste Management, The Lowest Form, Violent Reaction, Lock, and many many notable others gracing the partially announced lineup. Current lineup is below and ticketing info is on the way.

In related news, Lock (current and former members of FURY, Blazing Eye, Merchandise, Power Trip) will now headline a Brooklyn gig at the soon-to-close Acheron on Sunday (6/26). The original headliner, “USA Hardcore” enthusiasts Freedom, have dropped off of the bill, adding Warfare to a lineup that also includes Response, Claim, and Lion’s Cage. Git yer tix. Lock will release a new LP via Triple B in the near future, but recently dropped a 3 song promo tape to follow-up their Iron-Lung-released seven inch from earlier this year. Stream both, along with more material from artists at NDY below.

Thee Toronto Hardcore Punk fest, NOT DEAD YET, is coming back for it’s sixth installment in 2016 -running from October 13th through 16th.

This year, NDY continues to bring top shelf DIY PUNK & HARDCORE to Toronto for a weekend of bad ass riffs, moshing, vegan snacks and all around insanity. It’s nothing but a hardcore smorgasbord for four days across multiple venues and spaces, with a little something for everyone who’s got an ear for Hardcore, Punk and Hardcore Punk.

2016’s lineup features some of the biggest bands in the field right now, as well as some that we hope will be among the new favourites. Highlights include perhaps HC’s most vital current band G.L.O.S.S., Maryland groove moshers TURNSTILE, New York City punks LA MISMA, NWOBHC flagbearers VIOLENT REACTION & ARMS RACE, Boston HC mainstays WASTE MANAGEMENT, Catalan punk maniacs BARCELONA, UK HC punk masters THE LOWEST FORM and many many more.

As always, the fest aims to break down bullshit genre confines and celebrate this movement in all of it’s unbridled glory. It’s a for the people who are just as excited about seeing a band they haven’t seen in years as they are one who just dropped a demo they’ve never heard before.

While Toronto’s current urban climate makes it difficult for all shows to be at-all-times accessible, there will be as many shows as possible that are all ages shows and/or physically accessible. The festival is happy to say it is anti-racist, anti-homophobic, anti-transphobic and generally opposed to any and all oppression. If you can’t hang with that, don’t bother trying to hang with us.

Expect 4 days of chaos, hardcore punk, art, madness and mayhem. The only way it should be! Stay tuned for more band announcements, ticket info and schedule coming soon!
