This weekend, the New York Guitar Festival is presenting two days of free performances devoted entirely to the classical and flamenco guitar music of Spain at the Winter Garden at Brookfield Place in Lower Manhattan. On Friday, May 18 you can see Marjia Temo at 12:30 PM, and Pepe Romero at 7:30 PM; then on Saturday, May 19 it’s Adam del Monte with special guests Sonia Olla and Ismael Fernández at 12:30 PM and Sharon Isbin with Romero Lubambo at 7:30 PM. Again, these are free to attend and more info is here and you can listen to music by the headliners below.

Then on June 7 at the Greene Space the New York Guitar Fest is presenting “She Shreds: A Celebration of Women Guitarists” which is curated by Fabi Reyna, editor of zine She Shreds. Her band Savila, described as a “Latina power trio built on traditional cumbia and chicha rhythms,” plays as does ethereal singer-songwriter Sterling Rhyne, and Shana Cleveland of La Luz. Tickets are on sale and more info is here. You can check out music from Savila, Shana and Sterling, below.

Shana also plays two NYC shows with La Luz in the days immediately after the “She Shreds” show.
