So much comedy happens in NYC it’s hard to keep up. Here’s this week’s roundup of comedy stuff going on in the city. Be sure to check out last week’s roundup for more, and you can check out our comedy tag for still more.

JUST ANNOUNCED:

Maria Bamford, whose great Netflix series Lady Dynamite unfortunately didn’t get picked up for a third season, will play The Bell House on September 14 with early and late shows. Tickets are on sale and you can check out a list of all of Maria’s upcoming standup dates, below.

Lewis Black will perform at City Winery on March 15 as part of his “The Joke’s on Us” tour. Tickets go on Vinofile presale on March 6 at 3 PM with the public on-sale beginning March 7 at 3 PM. Lewis’s tour is taking him all over — all tour dates are listed below.

In case you missed it, last week, SXSW announced their 2018 comedy lineup, which includes Dave Hill interviewing Dick Cavett, a “Corporate Retreat” led by the cast of Corporate, and New York’s most delightful new comedy showcase, Butterboy Comedy (Aparna Nancherla, Jo Firestone, Maeve Higgins). With such a strong batch of performers, you may have missed Adam Pally‘s special appearance alongside the rest of the cast for the film Most Likely to Murder (starring Crazy Ex Girlfriend‘s Rachel Bloom).

If you’re not in Austin this weekend, but are in NYC, you can still catch Pally this Wednesday, March 7 at UCB Hell’s Kitchen, where he’ll be host “Vino Diesel,” a “completely improvised hour where Adam seeks to learn about wine from a sommelier” where he “attempts sophisticated conversation with interesting people from the entertainment.” No word on who those “interesting people” are yet, but tickets are available.

Pally’s wine spectacular is only one of the dozens of solid options for shows this week. As always, Monday (March 5) means showcases: this week’s installation of Side Ponytail at Friends and Lovers features Matthew Broussard, Christian J. Mangual, Connor Creagan, and more. The show is free; more info here. Butterboy Comedy at Littlefield is throwing a worthy sendoff before their SXSW show with sets from Eliot Glazer, Myq Kaplan, Donnie Sengstack, Nikki Glaser, and Chloe Hilliard. And as always, Whiplash takes over UCB Hell’s Kitchen on Monday at midnight. The storied late-night showcase is, as always, standby only.

At UCB Hell’s Kitchen on Thursday (3/8) is “Haha, Wow!”, is a monthly showcase presented by Reductress, hosted by editors and writers for the site, including Nicole Silverberg (Full Frontal with Samantha Bee). Tickets are on sale.

If you’re as excited for the March 20th return of The Chris Gethard Show on truTV as we are, check out the “TCGS Character Dump” on Friday, March 9 at UCB Hell’s Kitchen. The show, hosted by TCGS head writers Dru Johnston and Noah Foreman, will showcase rejected character pitches that crowd-sourced from the audience last season. If you liked the Beast Masturbator, this may be the show for you (tickets).

Speaking of truTV, The Impractical Jokers, who just started their seventh (!!) season on the cable network last month, are the guest stars on the Tenderloins Podcast taping on Tuesday, March 6; get tickets to the early and late shows at Caroline’s on Broadway.

Other Caroline’s offerings this week include stand up from Michelle Wolf on March 8 – 10 (tickets are still available for Thursday), and a great lineup for this week’s installation of “The Funniest Night on Broadway” on Friday, March 9, featuring Aaron Berg, Sam Morril, Emmy Blotnick, and more (tickets).

As usual, the Comedy Cellar also has lots to offer this week, including two sets from Colin Quinn on March 6 & 7 at Fat Black Pussycat Lounge, and nightly showcases featuring Mike Birbiglia (March 7), Mark Normand, and Michelle Wolf. Check out the full lineups and more info here.

At Union Hall this week, Sean Patton and Caitlin Cook host a night of comedy and music on Tuesday, March 6 (tickets). Then on Wednesday (3/7), Sam Taggart hosts a night of stand up, music, videos, and special guests, including Sasheer Zamata (SNL) and Max Wittert (tickets). Meanwhile, Sasheer also hosts her own monthly showcase, Party Time!, at Union Hall’s sister venue, The Bell House on March 11 and  this month’s lineup includes Marina Franklin, Emma Willmann, and more (tickets).

David Cross also announced more “Shootin’ The Shit” shows at Union Hall.

Sam Taggart also stars in my personal contender for the best “under the radar show”: on Thursday, March 8, check out Taggart along with Bowen Yang, Nick Naney, Mary Houlihan and more in DURBIS at The Brick in Williamsburg. The show is part of the Brooklyn Comedy Collective, a brand new initiative created by Philip Markle and Annie Donley, formerly of The Annoyance NYC (RIP) to foster new talent in the borough.

Perhaps the best show for a date night, Tinder Live! at Littlefield returns on Saturday, March 10 with host Lane Moore and special guests Eliot Glazer, JD Sampson, and Mychal Denzel Smith (tickets).

But if you’re opting to stay in this weekend, binge-watching the third season of Love, which lands on Netflix on Friday, March 9, isn’t a bad date night either. Watch the trailer:
