New Zealand's Swallow the Rat are following their 2018 S/T EP with their debut full-length, Leaving Room, this Friday (4/24) via Shifting Sounds (pre-order). Ahead of its release, we're premiering opening track "New Cross," along with the song's video. Swallow the Rat traffic in the same kinds of dark, shouty '80s post-punk influences that buzzy bands like IDLES, Fontaines DC, and The Murder Capital have been reviving lately, but they also add in swirling shoegazy guitars and noise rock crescendos, all of which are present on "New Cross." The Archie Porter and Kaitlin Stewart-directed video is about as much of a trip as the song itself -- check it out below.
