of course Nicolas Cage will play Tiger King's Joe Exotic in a new scripted TV series

Tiger King star Joe Exotic has said he would want Brad Pitt or David Spade to play him in a movie of his life, but he’s gonna have to settle for Nicolas Cage in a television series. Honestly, Nicolas Cage, with his wild at heart spirit, seems better suited for the job, and makes it easier for entertainment news writers to use headlines like “Cage Match” or “Uncaged.” Variety reports that the eight-episode series is being produced by Imagine Television Studios and CBS Television Studios and will be based on Leif Reigstad’s Texas Monthly article “Joe Exotic: A Dark Journey Into the World of a Man Gone Wild.”

Dan Lagana and Paul Young optioned the article and Lagana — who produced Netflix series American Vandal — will be the series showrunner. This marks the first television series for Cage who will also be an executive producer on the show.

This is not the only Tiger King-related series in the works. SNL‘s Kate McKinnon is set to star in and executive produce a series based on Wondery podcast Joe Exotic where she’ll play Joe’s mortal enemy, Carol Baskin.
