Of Montreal announce new LP 'Innocence Reaches,' share "It's Different for Girls"

Of Montreal are back with their 14th album, titled Innocence Reaches, that will be out August 12 via Polyvinyl. Main man Kevin Barnes made the record in Paris and cites current pop trends as in influence this time:

Forever I’ve been detached from current music. I got into this bubble of only being in some other time period. I came up picking apart the Beach Boys, the Beatles, and symphonic pieces. But last year, I was hearing Jack Ü, Chairlift, Arca, and others, thinking about low end and sound collage. It was an extra layer to geek out on.

The first single from Innocence Reaches is “It’s Different for Girls” (not a cover of the Joe Jackson single), which sounds like, well, Of Montreal, with a disco bassline, loopy keyboards and Barnes’ playful lyrics. You can stream it below.

No U.S. tour plans for Of Montreal at the moment but they will be playing a few Canadian shows this month, including Toronto’s Field Trip. All dates are listed below.
