Ohmme announce new album, share "3 2 4 3," touring with Wye Oak, Waxahatchee, more

Chicago duo Ohmme have announced new album Fantasize Your Ghost which is out June 5 via Joyful Noise. Ideas were initially sketched out with Sam Evian at his upstate NY Flying Cloud Studios and then recorded with producer Chris Cohen just outside Chicago. The first single is the hypnotic “3 2 4 3,” a pulsing indie rock number with Sima Cunningham and Macie Stewart’s strong voices at the center.

They’re also at the center of the song’s striking, time-lapse video, shot in Mexico City by director Alejandra Villalba García. “Sima and Macie explained to me that the song was about seeing the landscape/neighborhood change in front of your eyes even though you don’t want it to change,” says García. “I thought that the first half of the video should be about them staying still trying to resist change as the scenery around them changes quickly. The tall dark figure represents change and how it keeps getting closer to them until there’s no escape. When they fight with another version of themselves, the newer versions are the ones that win because they embrace change.” Watch that below.

Ohmme are currently opening for Wye Oak on thier “JOIN” tour, which hits Brooklyn tonight (3/4) at Music Hall of Williamsburg (tickets). They’ll then head to Austin for SXSW, and then beginning in April they’ll open for Waxahatchee (though not at the Brooklyn shows). They’re also playing a headline show at BSP Kingston on April 20 in the middle of the Waxahatchee tour. They’ve also got West Coast headline shows in June. All dates are listed below.
