Okkervil River streaming new LP 'Away'

Last year, Okkervil River played their best album Black Sheep Boy in full, and next week (9/9) they’ll release a new album — their first since 2013’s The Silver GymnasiumAway on ATO Records. Frontman Will Sheff took a new approach for this one, incorporating members of the yMusic ensemble for a jazz/modern classical touch (plus Marissa Nadler and former Okkervil member/current Shearwater frontman Jonathan Meiburg). The results are very positive. Will Sheff & co. previewed the album live in Brooklyn in July, and now they’re unleashing it onto the world. Listen to the full album stream (via NPR) right here:

Okkervil’s tour brings them back to NYC for a show at Webster Hall on October 20 with Landlady and Lip Talk. Tickets for that show are still available. Pictures from their recent Brooklyn show are in the gallery above.
