Olden Yolk on tour, add West Coast Dates w/ Mega Bog (watch their new video)
Olden Yolk have a video for “Gamblers on a Dime,” one of the baroque, folky standouts from the group’s excellent self-titled debut, which came out earlier this year on Trouble in Mind. The band’s Shane Butler, who you may also know from Quilt, told us a little about both the song and video:
The song is written from the perspective of one friend speaking to another who is at a point of desperation. Their conversation touches on the fragility of circumstance and how one small move can either lead one to reclaim or lose themselves completely. The film itself was shot by Venezualan artist Luis Arnias who is a close friend. It uses lush abstraction and a non-linear narrative to play with themes found in the lyrical content of the song.
It’s a lovely video that really embodies the vibe of the song. It premieres in this post and you can watch it, and listen to the album, below.
Olden Yolk just started their spring tour which hits NYC on May 19 at Mercury Lounge with LionLimb and Jaye Bartell also on the bill. Tickets are on sale. They’ve also added West Coast dates with Mega Bog in June. All are listed below.
