Oranssi Pazuzu cancel Psycho Vegas & CA shows due to visas; Sumac added

First Rotting Christ, and now an arguably even bigger blow to the Psycho Las Vegas lineup (and to Psycho’s series of pre-fest shows in California). The very much anticipated set by Finnish psychedelic metal band Oranssi Pazuzu will no longer be happening in Las Vegas this weekend. The band writes:

We sadly announce that we are forced to cancel our Psycho Las Vegas performance this week, along with the Los Angeles show.

The cancellations are caused by failure to get working visas on time.

Psycho Las Vegas and our US agency Nanotear did everything they could to help us out, but it was too late to fix the problems that our management had created by not processing the working visa forms on time.

We sincerely apologize to Psycho Las Vegas and all of the fans that have been looking forward to seeing the band in California and Nevada this week. It’s a massive disappointment for us not to be able to do these shows, but we are exploring ways to make this up as soon as possible.

This sucks, but at least the band will (hopefully) be back to tour North America before the end of the year.

The fest added their own statement:

Due to circumstances beyond our control, Oranssi Pazuzu will be cancelling their appearance on Saturday at Psycho Las Vegas. This is a tough one for us, as Oranssi was the first band booked on this year’s lineup and we were all looking forward to having them.

We were notified of this issue on Friday evening and have spent the past few days working with the band’s US booking agency as well as the Finnish embassy to try to rectify the situation—unfortunately, the paperwork wasn’t properly filed, making it impossible to expedite in any way.

We’re sorry to all of the fans who were looking forward to catching Oranssi’s Psycho debut.

The band’s agent Nathan Carson posted in the comments:

As someone who was deeply involved in this, I can tell you 100% that Psycho had no knowledge of any issue with the visa until last Friday, and they did everything humanly possible to solve this. Unfortunately, the band and I were misled and only had an inkling there was any issue until it was too late. We are trying to fix this situation now in order to preserve the tour in October. Thanks for your understanding.

The festival also lost Megadeth earlier this year after Dave Mustaine was sadly diagnosed with throat cancer, but Psycho were able to book a very worthy replacement: The Misfits.

No word on whether there will be replacements for Rotting Christ and/or Oranssi Pazuzu.

UPDATE: Sumac (another band of Aaron Turner whose Old Man Gloom is also playing Psycho) has taken OP’s Saturday beach stage spot.
