OSHUN playing Memorial Day Weekend show at Knockdown Center
Neo-soul/hip hop group OSHUN are one of the best live bands in NYC right now. They're led by core members Thandiwe and Niambi Sala, who wear matching outfits and facepaint on stage and who have incredible voices, and the duo are always joined by an ace backing band. They’re like Erykah Badu, Lauryn Hill and Digable Planets all rolled into one, with so much natural talent and confidence.
Thandiwe and Niambi are finally graduating from NYU, and they're playing a day show at Queens' Knockdown Center on Saturday (5/27). Here are more details:
The moment is finally here!! Iya-Sol pioneers OSHUN are finally graduating from NYU, and it's time to celebrate! The duo is kicking off Summer '17 with FWD, a
day party and celebration for students in all forms who have entered a new level in mind, body, or Spirit. Enjoy great music by some recent “graduates”, food, games,
and an opportunity to connect with fellow game changers!
The party is sponsored by the duo's political lifestyle movement NUBIANMAFIA, who since their launch event FUCK THE FOURTH in July 2016, has remained focused on establishing themselves as an independent community organization. FWD is the perfect onset to a new season of celebration, collective consciousness, and holistic liberation.
The show also has opener Highclass Hoodlums, sounds by DJ Shiva, Nakaya and Jil, and host Zuri Lyric Marley. Tickets are on sale.
OSHUN also play this year's Brooklyn Hip Hop Fest.
