We already knew that Pallbearer would be following 2014's Foundations of Burden with the new album Heartless this year, and now the first single is out. It's called "Thorns" and it's another example of how Pallbearer know how to make heavy, crushing doom while also being genuinely catchy. There's also a clean guitar passage that echoes the type of thing Metallica used to do in their prime, and that leads right back into the kind of ripping, melodic leads that were all over Foundations of Burden. Foundations was my third favorite album of 2014, so, needless to say, my expectations are pretty high for Heartless, and so far "Thorns" is meeting them. Listen to it below and get excited for the rest of Heartless. It drops on March 24 via Profound Lore.

As mentioned, Pallbearer are also touring this year, including a Brooklyn show on March 25 at Music Hall of Williamsburg. Tickets for that show are still available.

1. I Saw the End
2. Thorns
3. Lie of Survival
4. Dancing in Madness
5. Cruel Road
6. Heartless
7. A Plea for Understanding
