Pelican at MDF 2013 (more by Fred Pessaro)

Pelican will be busy for the next few weeks. As you're already no doubt aware, they'll be playing Invisible Oranges's CMJ showcase at Saint Vitus on 10/17 and 10/18, along with Ringworm, Sannhet, Primitive Man, Aksumite, Wreck & Reference, and a host of others. (Tickets for both nights are still available; get them before they're gone.) Pelican also have an ensuing run of dates in November afterwards, which you can check out below.

They're also about to spend a lot of time packing CDs and LPs into boxes, because they've started a preorder for their new full-length, Forever Becoming. The whole album is currently streaming over at Pitchfork, and it makes a strong sales pitch for itself. Pelican have drifted on and off my radar over the years, but this album is the heaviest and most vital they've sounded since they broke through with The Fire In Our Throats Will Beckon The Thaw in 2005. It's worth your time.

All Pellican dates are listed, along with three Forever Becoming jams and an IO-debuted music video, below.
