The return of A Tribe Called Quest has been as welcome as it's been bittersweet in the wake of Phife Dawg's passing. We already got some prime Phife material on We Got It From Here...Thank You 4 Your Service, and now his wife Desha Head Taylor says we'll be getting his final solo album in early 2017. Via Okayplayer:

“His solo album will be out probably sometime during the first quarter of 2017. We’re working on it now,” she said. “He completed his entire solo album before he transitioned, so we’re excited about releasing that.”

The would be the official follow-up to 2000's Ventilation: Da LP, his only proper solo album. This announcement came at the ceremony to rename a stretch of Linden Boulevard at 192nd Street "Malik 'Phife Dawg' Taylor Way," the same section that recently got a Tribe mural painted.
