[Phil] Lesh and the TXR Band kicked off their early evening set with “Bertha” followed by the “China Cat Sunflower” > “I Know You Rider” pairing. Early Dead tune “Born Cross-Eyed” came next along with Phil taking lead vocals on a cover of Robbie Robertson’s “Broken Arrow.” Phil then welcomed Warren [Haynes] to the stage for “St. Stephen” and a wild “New Minglewood Blues.” Lesh and The Terrapin Family Band continued guestless with “Help On The Way” > “Slipknot!” > “Franklin’s Tower” and an “Unbroken Chain” > “Stella Blue” pairing. After “Scarlet Begonias,” Phil brought out Bob Weir for a set-closing “Jack Straw” > “Uncle John’s Band.”

Phil, Bobby, Nicki [Bluhm] and the TXR Band took the stage again a bit after 11 p.m. to work through all five tracks from Terrapin Station. Weir was in fine form on “Estimated Prophet” and “Samson & Delilah” and threw in the “bonus verses” of “Passenger” he’s been adding to Dead & Company and Campfire Band versions of the tune. Bluhm shined on “Passenger,” while the ensemble not only worked through most portions of “Terrapin Station” found on the album but also included Robert Hunter’s “Jack O’Roses.” [JamBase]

Phil Lesh played a few sets at Lockn' Festival this past weekend, including one where he brought out his Grateful Dead bandmate Bob Weir, Dead family member (and Allman Brothers member and Gov't Mule singer) Warren Haynes, and Nicki Bluhm. As the review quoted above points out, Phil and Bobby did "Jack Straw" > "Uncle John's Band" together in an early set, before doing the Terrapin Station set that they had announced months before the festival. Watch videos of Phil and Bobby playing "Estimated Prophet," " Sunrise," and "Jack Straw," below.

Phil also played a set with moe., and Bobby also played a set with The Avett Brothers and made a surprise appearance during one of the Joe Russo's Almost Dead sets.

Phil Lesh has now announced that he will once again play Port Chester, NY's Capitol Theater on Halloween. His 2017 Halloween show will be with The Terrapin Family Band, Nicki Bluhm, and Robert Randolph. Tickets go on sale Friday (9/1) at 10 AM.

Much sooner than that, Phil and TFB have their Central Park SummerStage show this Wednesday (8/30). That one will also feature Nicki Bluhm, plus Jerry Garcia Band member Melvin Seals, and they're promising one set of Dead music and another set of JGB music. Tickets for Wednesday's show are still available.

In related news, Phil's son (and TFB member) Grahame Lesh will lead a CSNY tribute at Brooklyn Comes Alive in September.
