Philip Glass released ‘The Symphonies’ box set, premiering new symphony at Carnegie Hall on his 80th birthday
Phillip Glass will turn 80 on January 31, 2017 and he'll celebrate at Carnegie Hall in NYC by premiering a new work, "Symphony No. 11," as performed by Bruckner Orchestra Linz. The concert will also mark the NY premiere of Glass' "Ifé: Three Yorùbá Songs" and they'll also perform "Days and Nights in Rocinha." Tickets for the Carnegie Hall show are on sale now.
Speaking of symphonies, Glass recently released an 11-CD box set titled The Symphonies, featuring his first 10 symphonies as performed by Bruckner Orchestra Linz, Vienna Radio Symphony, Sinfonieorchester Basel, and Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra. It's not available for streaming but you can order the box set or the digital version.
