Phoenix @ Brooklyn Steel Night 3 pics; tonight's show will be livestreamed

Phoenix reached the halfway point of their very “speciale” Ti Amo residency at Brooklyn Steel on Saturday night. With songs often flowing into one another, a complex light show and some choreographed moves, their sets have been almost identical so far, though there were a couple differences for Night 3. They played “Tuttifrutti” in the main set slot that had previously been filled by “Long Distance Call” and “Trying to Be Cool” the previous nights, and they started their encore with a cover of Air’s “Playground Love” from The Virgin Suicides. (Fun facts: Phoenix frontman Thomas Mars is married to that film’s director, Sofia Coppola, and Phoenix were Air’s occasional backing band in the early days of the group.) They also brought out openers Giorgio Poi for a song, like they did at Friday’s show, and Thomas Mars went deep into the crowd again as well. Check out pics from the night in the gallery above and Saturday’s setlist is below.

They took Sunday off, but Phoenix are back at Brooklyn Steel tonight (7/9) and if you didn’t get tickets to this sold out show, Pitchfork is streaming it live at 9 PM Eastern. Phoenix will then wrap up their Ti Amo residency on Tuesday.
