Pianos Become the Teeth releasing new album, ‘Keep You’ on Epitaph (stream a track)

Pianos Become the Teeth at MHOW in 2012 (more by Jonathan McPhail)
Baltimore's Pianos Become the Teeth already have two of the best screamo albums in recent years with 2010's Old Pride and 2011's The Lack Long After (both on Topshelf). But last year, when they put out a split with Touche Amore, it featured the song "Hiding," which was sung entirely with clean vocals. When I first heard it, I hated it. Why would one of the best screamo bands around entirely ditch their style for something so much softer? But over time, my feelings towards their new sound shifted and "Hiding" became my favorite song the band had put out yet. When I saw them open for La Dispute, "Hiding" was my highlight of their set and the other clean-vocal new song they played made me even more excited for a new record.
That record's finally been announced, titled Keep You, and it comes out on October 28 via their new label home of Epitaph Records. "Hiding" isn't on it, but new single "Repine" is and it's got that same type of passionate rock that "Hiding" has. Something it's a little more similar to is Deja Entendu-era Brand New, and that's another band that has always ignored their previous sounds when making a new record. Check out the new track (via Noisey) below.
Pianos have upcoming tour dates, including Riot Fest, The Fest, Fun Fun Fun Fest, and a run with Title Fight and Circa Survive. Unfortunately no NYC date at the moment, but hopefully one will be added sooner than later.
