Another interesting facet that I noticed that night is that people who appreciate the truly weird tend to find one another. There was nothing normal about the crowd and I suspect that the majority of the crowd was composed of artists of some kind. It’s overwhelming to be in a room with this many nerds. I found it refreshing to be at a show that didn’t aim to be hip and cool. The fact that The Residents exist after forty something years and continue to use modern technology to push their vision to outer reaches of consciousness is a testament to the undying creativity of the human spirit and the rewards of not compromising the value of total chaos. – [HufPo]

Weirdo music icons The Residents are currently on their “Shadowland” tour, which hit NYC’s Gramercy Theatre on Tuesday, April 26. These shows serve a dual purpose, with a screening of Residents documentary Theory of Obscurity (which made for a good catch-up for audiencemembers not entirely familiar with the group), followed by a performance by the group who has managed to remain anonymous for over 40 years. Their set included “Constantinople,” the closest The Residents have ever come to a “hit,” plus 20 or so other selections from throughout their long and strange trip.
