Pitchfork Festival 2019 - Sunday

Pitchfork Fest Sunday pics (Robyn, Snail Mail, Charli XCX, Neneh Cherry, more)

After pulling away from the music world for about a decade, Robyn returned last year with a brilliant album, “Honey,” and sold-out theater tour. Her headlining slot on Pitchfork’s final night was part of a victory lap, and her set built inexorably to an extended “Love is Free,” only to be followed by the club classic “Dancing on my Own.” No one in pop makes melancholy lyrics feel so good, as a park full of gyrating dancers would attest. Chicago’s Pitchfork Festival began on Friday, continued on Saturday (where there was a brief evacuation due to weather), and then wrapped up on Sunday, following a delayed opening due to weather. Sunday’s headliner was Robyn (who we also just caught at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center), and the day also had sets by Snail Mail (who brought out Clairo for a set-closing rendition of “Speaking Terms,” which you can watch below, and who also covered Goo Goo Dolls with Soccer Mommy at a Pitchfork aftershow the previous night), Charli XCX (who brought out CupcakKe for “Lipgloss” – watch that below), Neneh Cherry, Whitney, Khruangbin, Clairo, JPEGMAFIA, black midi, Flasher, Amen Dunes, and more. Pictures of Sunday are in the galleries above AND below.
