Pixies release first new song in almost a decade (video, MP3)

When it was announced that Kim Deal was leaving the Pixies, it seemed more like the end of the band than a new beginning, but apparently that wasn’t the case at all. The band have just released their first new song since their 2004 single, “Bam Thwok.” The new song is called “Bagboy” and it actually sounds a good deal like classic Pixies. (It was recorded with Gil Norton, who basically produced everything from Dolittle on.) You can download the song for free in a widget and watch its music video below.

There’s no word on whether or not this song was recorded with Kim Deal, but we agree with Pitchfork and Slicing Up Eyeballs that it certainly sounds like it was.
