Pixx on 4AD, playing label showcases in NYC & London w/ The Lemon Twigs & Methyl Ethel

Pixx is the moniker of Chipstead, UK artist Hannah Rodgers, who signed to 4AD last year. She’s working in the electronic downtempo realm, but clearly is first and foremost interested in classic songwriting — she’s a Jackson Browne fan, for example. She also kinda reminds me of The Bird and the Bee. Last year she released the four-song Fall In EP, and this year she followed it with the “Baboo” single. It’s all pretty good, and you can stream all five songs below.

Pixx has just a few shows coming up at the moment, including the two ‘4AD Revue’ showcases in NYC and London that highlight three of the label’s newest signings, which are both with The Lemon Twigs, and Methyl Ethel.. The NYC show happens on September 28 at Irving Plaza and seems like the kind of thing the label would book for a CMJ showcase (which there may be no opportunity to do this year), and it also seems like a small lineup for Irving Plaza.

Tickets for the NYC show go on 4AD presale Wednesday (7/27) at 10 AM (password = 1980), and the general on-sale begins Friday (7/29) at 10 AM. Live Nation/Music Geeks presales also start Wednesday at 10. All Pixx dates are listed below.
