Pogues members Spider Stacy and Cait O’Riordan touring with Lost Bayou Ramblers
Original Pogues members Spider Stacy and Cait O’Riordan will be going on the "Poguetry" tour this winter, where they'll be backed up by Grammy-winning Cajun music band Lost Bayou Ramblers. “I saw the Ramblers play back in 2011 and immediately recognized them as kindred spirits,” says Stacy, who lives in New Orleans these days. “I felt they'd be a fantastic vehicle to give the old songs some new life. I'm not ready to stop playing live but at the same time I don't think the world needs any new music from me, so this works nicely. Bringing Cáit in just took us up another level.”
Dates kick off February 28 in New Orleans, then the tour hits Boston, Philadelphia, DC, Brooklyn, Atlanta, Nashville, and St. Louis. The Brooklyn show happens at Rough Trade on March 8 (tickets).
Meanwhile, Spider Stacy has been busy the last couple years working on a Pogues musical with The Wire's David Simon and George Pelecanos. Stay tuned for more on that.
