Polica and orchestral ensemble s t a r g a z e collaborated in the past on a project called Music For the Long Emergency, which became a "virtual residency" and was also performed live at this year's Eaux Claires festival. They have now turned it into an album, recorded at Justin Vernon's April Base studio in Eau Claire, WI, which will be released on February 16 via Totally Gross National Product/Transgressive. The first single is the ten-minute "How Is This Happening," which Channy Leaneagh says was inspired by Trump's election. The song has Channy's unmistakable voice paired with more experimental, meditative music than Polica do on their own, and it works really well. Listen below.

Polica and s t a r g a z e are also playing shows together, making stops in Massachusetts, NYC, Minneapolis, Chicago, Cincinnati, and more. The NYC show is on February 17 at Symphony Space's Peter Jay Sharp Theatre. Tickets are available. All dates are listed below.
