As mentioned, the 2015 Cold Waves Music Fest happens in Chicago on September 25 & 26, with Godflesh, Lustmord, Lead Into Gold, Front Line Assembly, Pop Will Eat Itself, Severed Heads, Author+Punisher, Prurient and more. A few of those bands are stopping in NYC as well. Severed Heads will be here on September 24 but the venue has changed from Santos to Rough Trade. Tickets are still available.

Pop Will Eat Itself will stop in NYC before Cold Waves as well, playing Santos on September 21. It will be their first U.S. show in 20 years and is with Chicago industrial band Die Warzau (who haven’t played NYC in 20 years either). Tickets are on sale now.

Note: this version of PWEI does not feature Clint Mansell (who mainly does soundtrack work these days). Graham Crabb, the only original member, co-fronts the band these days with Ian Hoxley (aka Mary Byker of fellow ’80s grebo group Gay Bykers on Acid). They’re still making music, too, having released Anti Nasty League earlier this year which is in the same industrial rock mode as PWEI’s albums in the mid-’90s when they were signed to Trent Resnor’s Nothing label. Personally, I’m much more a fan of their clever, sample-crazy albums made with Flood — 1988’s This is the Day, This is The Hour, This is This (a great record that, in my opinion, is like the UK version of Paul’s Boutique) and 1990’s Cure for Sanity. You can check out the video for Anti Nasty League‘s “21st Century English Civil War” below.

PWEI are playing a few other US shows as well. All dates are listed below.
