Portishead share video for cover of ABBA's "SOS" with anti-'Brexit' message

Portishead have made a video for their cover of ABBA’s “SOS” which is from the soundtrack to High Rise and is their first new recording since 2009 single “Chase the Tear.” The video uses Beth Gibbons’ expressive face to do all the emoting and ends with a quote from Jo Cox, the British MP who was viciously killed last week. “We have far more in common than which divides us,” a reference to the “Brexit” referendum calling for Britain to leave the EU, and Cox had been a vocal proponent of staying. The man charged with killing her had ties to far right extremism and many, including her husband, think she was killed because of her strong political views. Britain will vote on “Brexit” on Thursday, June 23.
