pre-Versus band Flower’s 1st album in 30 years out in July (listen to “Annihilation Time”)
Flower, the late-'80s, pre-Versus band featuring Richard and Ed Baluyut, got back together a couple years ago, toured with Sebadoh, and started working on new music. According the band, they basically locked themselves together in a room and didn't come out till they had enough songs for a new album. That record is None Is (But Once Was), their first in 30 years, and will be out July 24 via Ernest Jenning Record Co.
We've got the premiere of "Annihilation Time," a simmering slow burn featuring some of the group's signature discordant leads. The video for the songs juxtaposes current footage of the band with vintage performance clips that they've managed to synch up cleverly. Watch that, and check out another song off the album, below.
Versus released the excellent Ex Voto (their first album in nearly a decade) last year.
Both Flower and Versus were supposed to tour with Sebadoh again this spring, but that got canceled due to COVID-19.
