Priests Seduction of Kansas

Priests announce new album 'The Seduction of Kansas' & tour, share song

DC post-punks Priests are back with their second proper album, The Seduction of Kansas, which drops April 5 via their own Sister Polygon Records (pre-order). It’s their first album without Taylor Mulitz (whose band Flasher has been taking off, and who designed the album artwork), and first with past collaborator/multi-instrumentalist Janel Leppin (who also played on last year’s Marissa Nadler album) serving as primary bassist and a fourth songwriting collaborator for the album. (Their current tour bassist is Alexandra Tyson.) It’s also the band’s first album with producer John Congleton (who’s worked with Angel Olsen, St. Vincent, Cloud Nothings, Sharon Van Etten, and many others), and going by the lead single/title track, they sound just a little poppier and more polished this time around. The press release for the album cites Massive Attack’s Mezzanine, Portishead’s Third, and Nine Inch Nails’ Downward Spiral as reference points. Check out the song and watch the video (directed by singer Katie Alice Greer) below.

Priests also have tons of tour dates coming up in the US, Canada, Europe, the UK, and more. They’ve got a Brooklyn show on April 16 at Elsewhere. Tickets for that show will be on sale soon. All dates are listed below.
