Priests share "Nothing Feels Natural," playing protest show in DC the night of inauguration w/ Waxahatchee & more

DC band Priests have shared the title track from their new album Nothing Feels Natural. Arguably the best song on the album, it’s brooding and wiry but also pretty with singer Katie Alice Greer showing a more subtle vocal style than we usually hear, to great effect. (Protomartyr fans: check this one out.) Says Katie:

This song was written when we weren’t sure the record we were trying to make would ever be completed or actually come out, and that is actually what it’s about. I was really depressed and frustrated. I worked in a restaurant and hated it and thought I would work there forever (because that’s how you think when you’re depressed). This band has never been a hobby or something we do when there’s nothing better to do, so in times when it feels like things aren’t working, my entire life feels like it’s not working. This song came out of that feeling.

Priests will kick off their tour in NYC with a record release show at Brooklyn Bazaar on January 28 (tickets) with Snail Mail but before that, they’ve organized an anti-inauguration show they’re calling “NO THANKS: A Night of Anti-Fascist Sound Resistance in the Capital of the USA” at DC club The Black Cat on January 20 (inauguration night) with Waxahatchee (solo), Sadie Dupuis (of Speedy Ortiz/Sad13), Pure Disgust, Marc Ribot, Flasher, Free Children of Earth, and more TBA. Tickets are on sale and all proceeds will benefit Casa Ruby and ONE DC. For those who can’t attend but would like to help anyway, you can still contribute to the benefit here.

Updated tour dates are listed, along with a flyer for the DC show, below.
