Primavera Sound 2020 has been cancelled

The 2020 edition of Primavera Sound was supposed to be June 3-7, and then with the coronavirus pandemic it got postponed till August 26-30. But now it’s just been canceled:

Primavera Sound announces the most difficult decision in its history: finally we cannot celebrate the 20th anniversary of Primavera Sound during 2020, as we all would have liked. And it won’t be for lack of trying. When, on March 28th, we announced the change of date to the end of August, we did so under the supervision and with the green light from the local and health authorities, who at that moment validated its celebration this year. However with the evolution of this unprecedented health crisis and faced with the uncertainty of the easing of lockdown measures for festivals, we find ourselves obliged to postpone the next edition of Primavera Sound Barcelona, for reasons of force majeure, until next year: from 2nd to 6th June 2021.

We are devastated and are terribly sorry for the inconvenience caused, but the health and well-being of our audience and of all the people involved in the festival has always been and still is our absolute priority. We cannot thank you enough for your patience, love and understanding in this very uncertain scenario.

Primavera notes “all tickets that have been bought will be valid for Primavera Sound Barcelona 2021 and will include special benefits for all those who decide to keep them.” If you want to get a refund, you can do that starting June 3, which is also when Primavera will announce some of its 2021 lineup.

The 2020 Primavera Sound lineup included a reunited Pavement, Massive Attack, Lana Del Rey, Bad Bunny, Bikini Kill, Bauhaus, The Strokes and more. No word on the Porto (rescheduled) and Los Angeles editions of Primavera Sound, both of which were to have happened in September.
