Prince getting an official Pantone shade of purple called "Love Symbol #2"

Prince and purple have been all but synonymous since 1984, so it seems fitting that the late pop icon will be getting an official shade of it from from color experts Pantone. Refinery29 reports it’s called “Love Symbol #2” and is based on his signature Yamaha piano. “Love Symbol #2 is emblematic of Prince’s distinctive style,”  Pantone Color Institute vice president Laurie Pressman said in a statement. “Long associated with the purple family, Love Symbol #2 enables Prince’s unique purple shade to be consistently replicated and maintain the same iconic status as the man himself.” Troy Carter from Prince’s estate added, “The color purple was synonymous with who Prince was and will always be. This is an incredible way for his legacy to live on forever.”

In related news, Princess, the Prince tribute act led by Maya Rudolph and Gretchen Lieberum, will return to NYC’s Brooklyn Bowl on October27 & 28. Tickets go on sale Friday, August 18 at 10 AM.
