Psychedelic sludge band Druids prep new LP 'Shadow Work' (watch a new video)
Iowa psychedelic sludge trio Druids will release their fourth album, Shadow Work, on June 3 via Pelagic Records (pre-order). The album title is a reference to the Swiss psychiatrist and psychoanalyst Carl Gustav Jung, and the band cites both Radiohead and Neurosis as core influences. Elements of both of those bands come through on the towering seven-minute single “Path To R,” along with a heaping dose of psychedelia.
“I feel that ‘Path to R’ sets the tone for Shadow Work,” guitarist/vocalist Luke Rauch tells us. “It has the big riffs and solos of our last record (Monument) while exploring new ideas like letting the rhythm section and vocals taking the lead in the verses.” It comes with a video filmed and edited by Dante Diablo, and produced by Kristian Day, and that premieres below.
