Psychic Ills' Tres Warren, RIP

Vocalist and guitarist Tres Warren of Psychic Ills has passed away at the age of 41, the band confirms. “Dear Friends,” they write, “our hearts are broken and heavy with the news that our brother Tres has passed away. Tres was a lover of music–his soul was made of it and he poured that into all he did with such heart and passion. We will forever be changed by knowing him and the empty space his leaving has left behind will never be filled. We want to thank you all for the love and support that you have given us through the years. We love u T and will miss you every day.”

Warren and vocalist and bassist Elizabeth Hart formed Psychic Ills together in 2005, and they released five LPs of laid-back, VU-influenced psych, most recently 2016’s Inner Journey Out, which included “I Don’t Mind,” a song featuring Mazzy Star’s Hope Sandoval. Warren also released music as part of Compound Eye and Messages, and he put out an album with Alfredo Thiermann in 2018.

Rest in peace, Tres.
