Canadian pop punks PUP have been having quite the year, with constant touring and the release of their much-loved sophomore album The Dream Is Over. It was longlisted for the Polaris Music Prize (but lost to Kaytranada) and its very recent video for “Sleep In The Heat” (starring Finn Wolfhard of Stranger Things) was just called one of the 25 best music videos of 2016 by Pitchfork.

Speaking of PUP and ‘best of 2016,’ the band told us their top 10 favorite albums of the year. It includes their SideOneDummy labelmate Jeff Rosenstock, who they’ve collaborated with, and alt-pop band Phantogram, who they’ve covered. There’s plenty of more diversity on there, from Canadian alt-country singer Daneil Romano to weirdo-rapper Danny Brown to departing mathcore band The Dillinger Escape Plan.
