R.E.M.'s Monster was released 25 years ago today in the U.S. and the band have an anniversary box set on the way which includes a new mix of the album, rare outtakes, demos, live recordings and more. They've just shared one of those demos for a song titled "Revolution" which ended up not making the record, but they played it live on the Monster tour and it would end up on the soundtrack for 1997's Batman & Robin. If you dug the more rock direction of Monster, but wish the mid-'90s production was dialed back to Sebadoh levels, this is pretty cool. Listen below.

The Monster: 25th Anniversary Edition is out November 1. Three-fourths of R.E.M. recently reunited for a show in Atlanta that also featured members of Pylon and more.
