TMZ is reporting that R. Kelly's lawyer has threatened to sue the Lifetime television network if it airs its six-part documentary series, Surviving R. Kelly, which is set to premiere tonight (1/3). The series features "survivors and people from R. Kelly’s inner circle," who are "coming forward with new allegations about his sexual, mental, and physical abuse." According to TMZ, Kelly's lawyers claim that they have two audio recordings, five minutes in duration, that show Lifetime was aware "some of the girls are lying, but that the budget was too high to turn back now."

Surviving R. Kelly premieres on Thursday (1/3) on Lifetime at 9 PM EST with the rest of the series split over Friday and Saturday. You can watch clips from it below.
