Rainer Maria reuniting, playing NYC on New Year's Eve

by Andrew Sacher

Rainer Maria

The emo reunions have been aplenty lately (like American Football, Mineral, The Jazz June, etc), and here’s another one to get excited about: Rainer Maria! They’ve just announced that they’ll be headlining NYC’s Bowery Ballroom on New Year’s Eve this year, which may just be the best way your emo self can ring in the new year in NYC. Tickets for that show go on sale Friday (10/17) at noon with an AmEx presale starting Wednesday (10/15) at noon (update: no presale). It’s their only announced date at the moment but we’ll let you know if we hear of more.

Rainer Maria were initially around from 1995 to 2006, when they played their final show at Northsix (what is now Music Hall of Williamsburg). Like fellow emo reuniters American Football, Rainer Maria were on Polyvinyl for most of their career and put out several albums for the label including classics like 1997’s Past Worn Searching, 1999’s Look Now Look Again, 2001’s A Better Version of Me and more.
