Rainer Maria returned in 2017 with their first album in 11 years, the great S/T (released on their longtime label home of Polyvinyl), and after quieting down for the past few months, they returned to the stage at Brooklyn's Elsewhere on Thursday (2/22). The show had direct support from fellow indie/emo vets The Van Pelt, who first played with Rainer Maria back in 1997 (as RM singer Caithlin De Marrais mentioned on stage). As always, Rainer Maria were in great spirits, especially guitarist Kaia Fischer, who was full of energy and cracking jokes between songs. Opening the night was Talk Normal offshoot Gold Dime. Pictures of all three bands are in the gallery above.
