Red Fang & Okkervil River made video games for their new LPs

If there's one thing Portland's Red Fang are known for, apart from monster riffs, it's their love of beer. With that in mind, the band are promoting their upcoming, Chris Funk-produced album, Whales and Leeches (out 10/15 on Relapse), with an online game where you, virtually, chug as much beer as possible while listening to songs from the new record. It's no Tapper, but if you're looking to kill a few minutes before you leave work and kill a few real beers, it'll do. Red Fang will be touring and in NYC with Cancer Bats in December and beyond. If you're looking for a more nuanced album-tie-in gaming experience, Will Sheff helped created a videogame that compliments Okkervil River's new album, The Silver Gymnasium, a record inspired by the singer's '80s childhood. Paying homage to such games as Leisure Suit Larry and Maniac Mansion, the online adventure game features 8-bit versions of songs from the album and text by Sheff and co-creater Benjamin Miles. It's a multi-chaptered game with new chapters coming out every two weeks. You can play it here. Okkervil River's tour hit NYC last week (9/26) at Terminal 5.
