Red Foreman Shit Show

Red Foreman & The Acid Flashback At Nightmare Beach releasing LP (listen)

Red Foreman & The Acid Flashback At Nightmare Beach caught my eye when main member Lonny Starsky emailed me some of their stuff and referred to it as “psychedelic emo.” I don’t know if that’s a real genre, but I kind of want it to be, so it was enough to get me to check out Red Foreman’s music and I don’t regret it. They released an EP last year called The Universe Doesn’t Give A Shit About You, which was produced, mixed, and mastered by Citizen frontman Mat Kerekes, who also drummed on the whole EP and sang backup on “Midwest Towns.” Now Red Foreman is set to release a full-length in July via Third String Records, Welcome To The Shit Show, which this time was self-produced, and mixed by Foxing collaborator Ryan Wasoba.

I still don’t know if “psychedelic emo” is what I would call this, but it’s definitely emo, and it’s definitely trying to take emo into more experimental territory than usual, so I get the idea. It’s good stuff, and if you’re into other genre-defying bands that tend to fall under the “emo” umbrella like Foxing and TWIABP, you’re probably gonna dig this. We’re premiering “Goodnight Nobody,” and its video (directed by Alex Bradburn and the band’s own Lonny Starsky). Check it out, along with two other demos (recorded “on an iPhone 8”) from Shit Show, below.

Red Foreman & The Acid Flashback At Nightmare Beach also have two more albums planned for later this year, one in October and one in December.
