Red Hare (Dag Nasty, Swiz, Bluetip, etc) releasing new album (stream a track)

Though Shawn Brown is staying busy fronting the reunited Dag Nasty (who play NY and NJ this weekend), he’s also still making time for his newer band Red Hare, which includes fellow hardcore vets Jason Farrell (who was in Swiz with Shawn), Dave Eight (who was in Bluetip with Jason), and Joe Gorelick (who was briefly in Bluetip and also in Garden Variety). They’re following their 2013 debut LP, Nites of Midnite, and their 2016 Lexicon Mist EP with their sophomore album, Little Acts of Destruction, in May via Dischord and the band’s own Hellfire label (pre-order will be live soon at this link). The album was produced and mixed by longtime collaborator J. Robbins (of Jawbox and more).

Along with the announcement, we’re premiering the first single, “Affirmation,” which is rooted in exactly the kind of ’80s DC post-hardcore that these guys helped pioneer. It’ll sound familiar and nostalgic if you’re a fan of this kinda stuff, but it also sounds fresh today. Listen below.

Red Hare also have shows coming up later this spring including a release show in DC on 5/30 at the Black Cat and a TBA NYC show on 6/1. All dates are listed below.
