Folk legend Richard Thompson (of Fairport Convention, Richard & Linda Thompson, and other notable projects) is releasing a new solo album this year, produced by Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy. On getting to work with him, Tweedy said:

Richard’s been one of my favorite guitar players for a very long time. When I think about it, he’s also one of my favorite songwriters and favorite singers. He’s the Ultimate Triple Threat. Getting to work closely with him on this record was a truly rewarding experience, not to mention a great thrill. And he keeps alive my streak of working exclusively with artists who make me look good as a producer.

The album’s called Still, will be out on June 23 via Fantasy Records (pre-order), and our first taste of it is the new single “Beatnik Walking.” Backed by past collaborators Taras Prodaniuk (bass) and Michael Jerome (drums), the song has Richard still in fine form and Tweedy’s production suits him well. Listen (via Aquarium Drunkard), with the album artwork and tracklist below.

Richard also has a previously mentioned tour, which will have his electric trio hitting NYC on June 26 at Town Hall. Tickets for that show are still available.
