Riot Fest 2019 lineup (Bikini Kill, Slayer, blink-182, Patti Smith, Raconteurs & MUCH more)
Riot Fest has announced the lineup for the 2019, 15th anniversary edition of the festival, and as usual, it's stacked. blink-182, who cancelled their 2018 set due to health issues, return to headline this year, and they're joined by the reunited Bikini Kill (for the first Chicago date of their reunion), Slayer (for what they're saying is their "final" Chicago and Milwaukee show), The Raconteurs (playing their first Chicago show in 11 years), and Rise Against.
The festival's 2019 lineup also includes The Flaming Lips (playing their 2002 album Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots in full), Jawbreaker (who headlined the fest for their 2017 reunion), Ween (playing their 1997 album The Mollusk in full), Bloc Party (continuing their current US tour playing Silent Alarm in full), Die Antwoord, Patti Smith and her Band, Taking Back Sunday (playing their 2002 debut Tell All Your Friends and 2006's Louder Now in full), Rancid, Violent Femmes, Descendents, Manchester Orchestra, The B-52's, Dashboard Confessional (playing 2001's The Places You Have Come to Fear The Most in full), the reunited Avail (for the first non-East Coast reunion show they've announced yet, and playing their 1998 album Over the James in full), Against Me! (playing Reinventing Axl Rose and Transgender Dysphoria Blues in full, like other dates on their fall tour), Anthrax, Bob Mould, Hot Snakes, American Football, Guided by Voices, Ride, Lucero, The Damned Things Testament, Andrew W.K., The Get Up Kids, Hot Water Music, Glassjaw (playing 2002's Worship & Tribute in full), GWAR, The Selecter (playing their 1980 debut album Too Much Pressure in full), Anti-Flag, Turnover, Cursive, Turnstile, The Ergs!, Frank Iero and the Future Violents, Cherry Glazerr, Dave Haus & The Mermaid, Angel Du$t, Pkew Pkew Pkew, Thin Lips, and more. Also: The Village People! See the lineup in full below.
UPDATE: blink-182 are also playing Enema of the State at the festival.
Riot Fest happens at Chicago, IL's Douglas Park on September 13-15, and tickets are on sale now.
Metal fans who buy tickets just for Slayer, should be happy that fellow thrash legends Testament and Anthrax (and Scott Ian's other project, The Damned Things) are also on the bill, not to mention Riot Fest regulars GWAR. Hopefully they're all on the same day.
Unlike Bikini Kill, the reunited Jawbox are missing from the Riot Fest lineup. They reportedly don't want to play festivals, but they did kick off their tour with a Baltimore club show, their first in 20 years.
