Riot Fest launch livestream series ft. mems of Lawrence Arms, Smoking Popes, Wonder Years, more

Riot Fest

No word yet on the status of Riot Fest 2020 (which My Chemical Romance are booked to headline), but the Chicago punk (and more) festival also presents several shows throughout the year, most of which have been postponed, and they are helping make up for the current lack of concerts with their own livestream series on Facebook Live.

It kicks off today (4/23) at 7 PM ET (6 PM CT) with an acoustic set from Lawrence Arms/The Falcon vocalist Brendan Kelly and it continues Friday (4/24) at 7 PM ET with Smoking Popes frontman Josh Caterer. After that, they’ve got TBA performances from members of The Wonder Years, State Champs, Microwave, and more. They write:

We’re not going to lie: it sucks not having any shows to go to right now. So we here at Riot Fest are bringing you the good times… at home and online. Introducing: Riot Fest at Home!

For the next couple of weeks, you can get a taste of good ol’ Riot Fest right from your couch (or bed, or toilet, or wherever). Tomorrow night at 6:00 p.m. CDT, we’re kicking things off with an acoustic performance on Instagram Live from Brendan Kelly of The Lawrence Arms—and on Friday, Josh Caterer of the Smoking Popes will join us at 6:00 p.m. for a performance on Facebook Live.

We’ll keep you entertained for the next few weekends or so with livestream performances, hangouts and other fun stuff each Thursday and Friday. We’ll have more to come soon from The Wonder Years, State Champs, Microwave and others—for now, stay tuned and be sure to keep up with us on Facebook and Instagram for more updates.

Stay tuned for more. Meanwhile, watch these videos of The Lawrence Arms and The Smoking Popes at past Riot Fests:
