RIP Adam West (TV's Batman)

We are super sad to hear that actor Adam West has died at age 88. While he appeared in tons of television in the ’50s and ’60s, including Maverick, 77 Sunset Strip, The Detectives and Sugarfoot, it was his cool, tongue-in-cheek, deadpan take on the title role in the campy, groovy ’60s series Batman for which he’ll always be remembered. He stayed busy as a character actor after that, and and was an in-demand voiceover actor and appeared regularly on The Family Guy. You can watch a few classic Batman clips below.

One of West’s biggest fans was Conan O’Brien who, along with Robert Smigel, tried to resurrect his career in the early ’90s with a show called Lookwell!, which they wrote specifically for him, that used his particular thespian skills and his rep as a has-been actor. The pilot, which was made for NBC but never actually aired, is great and you can watch that below.

Rest in peace, Adam.
