Rough Trade's 40th Anniversary is the subject of BrooklynVegan Blog Radio on SiriusXMU (playlist)

Rough Trade records are in the middle of their 40th anniversary this year! To celebrate, they recently announced some very special “collaborative” shows to be held in at the Barbican London. There will be joint sets from The Pop Group & Protomartyr, The Raincoats & Angel Olsen, Scritti Politti & Alexis Taylor of Hot Chip, and more. We hope equally unique anniversary shows will be announced in the United States (at their NYC venue?), but no word yet.

In honor of Rough Trade’s 40th anniversary, this week’s edition (8/10) of BrooklynVegan.com Blog Radio on SiriusXM is dedicated entirely to the long running label and record shop. Over the course of the two hour show, songs will be played from throughout Rough Trade’s entire 40 year run. Bands such as The Smiths, Parquet Courts, Tav Falco’s Panther Burns, Jonathan Richman, the Libertines, Galaxie 500, the Hold Steady, Mazzy Star and The Strokes are all on the playlist.

The BV Blog Radio: Rough Trade special premieres today on SiriusXMU at Noon and Midnight (EDT), and is available on-demand with the SiriusXM app. The playlist for this week’s show is below.
