RVG share "Perfect Day," tell us about what they've been listening while stuck at home
Australia’s RVG will release their second album, Feral, next Friday and they’ve just released a new song from it. “Perfect Day,” which is not a Lou Reed cover, is a jangly earworm that singer/songwriter Romy Vager says is “about trying to give someone the façade of it being a nice day even though things around them really aren’t good.” There’s more than a little Go-Betweens to this one and you can watch the video, directed by The Crayon Fields’ Geoffrey O’Connor, below.
With the coronavirus pandemic keeping many of us home a lot more, we’ve been asking artists to tell us what’s been keeping them occupied through all, and Romy sent us a list of music, TV, synthesizers, fruit and more. Check that out, complete with commentary, below.

RVG’s ROMY VAGER – QUARANTINE LIST (MUSIC, TV, MORE)
Wayne Cochran – “Last Kiss”
I’ve been listening to this version on repeat while I do the dishes. He recorded like four different versions of this in the ’60s. I guess he knew how good it was. The lyrics kill me.

Mike Oldfield – “Wonderful Land”
I hope this is the music that everyone is making in quarantine. Can you imagine if we all come out of isolation and everything sounds like this? I think that would be really great.

Ginger Davis and The Snaps – “I’m No Run Around”
This one’s a response song to “Runaround Sue.” I love it. She’s like ‘I heard what you said about me, fuck you’.

The Native Cats – “SanRemo”
The new Native Cats is so good. I can’t wait until the pandemic is over and I can see my favourite bands again. I’m missing seeing bands a lot right now.
—
Carol Kaye – “The Searchers”
I’ve only recently learned about Carol Kaye. She’s incredible. This is the best surf song I’ve probably ever heard.
—
Last Man On Earth (film)
This is one of my faves and I watched it again just as all the coronavirus stuff happened. I love how he remarks ‘still fresh’ when he picks up some garlic in the abandoned grocery store. I think about that scene every time I buy garlic.

Machine Gun Fellatio – “Unsent Letter”
This song came into my head a few days ago and I’ve been playing it on the guitar a lot to myself. Love it.

Kiwi Fruit
I always think Kiwi Fruit is a exxy fruit but it’s been really cheap in the supermarket so I’ve been eating a bit of it. It’s probably my favourite fruit so it’s been making life a bit more bearable here.

Korg Poly 800
I found an old Korg synthesiser in Hard Rubbish a couple of days ago. Who the hell throws one of them out? I’m very excited about it. I think we’re gonna have to make some kind of synth punk album now.

“Lower Case N” from Sesame Street
I’ve been watching a lot of old Sesame Street shorts. Some of them are so strange. This one’s probably my favourite. I’ve been singing this a lot around the house lately. I’d love a job writing weird kids song like these I reckon I’d be good at it.
