Richmond, VA indie rocker Sammi Lanzetta releases her debut EP, For Avery, this week (10/6) on 6131 Records, home of the debut albums by Julien Baker, Joyce Manor, Touche Amore, and many others (pre-order). She's got a conversational singing style that's gained her more than one comparison to her Richmond neighbor Lucy Dacus, and lyrics like the EP's opening line ("Why are you such a misogynist? I would rather slit my throat than be stuck in a house with you") feel instantly quotable in the way Lucy's own debut was. The openness and relatability doesn't end there. There's a song called "Anxiety Olympics" which lives up to its title on just about every line, and she dives into a little Courtney Barnett-ish wit on "Toothbrush Song," which begins: "You found my toothbrush in your apartment and I guess it freaked you out. I freaked out when I left it... but I've got to clean my mouth." A stream of the whole EP premieres below.

Sammi also has a bunch of tour dates coming up, including a house show in Brooklyn on 10/21. She also tours with Diet Cig in late November and early December. All dates are listed below.
