Santigold released her great third album 99 Cents last week, and in celebration of that, she threw a couple events in NYC. The first was her "Tumblr IRL" party on album release day (anyone who go that?) and the second was an in-store at Rough Trade last night (3/1). She only played four songs -- two off the new record and two old ones -- but the early show was still a fun way to start your evening. She was joined by a DJ and two dancers, who had synchronized moves and spinning platforms that they stood on for one song. (One of those platforms didn't work too well.) Santi was clearly in a great mood for the whole show, smiling and engaging the crowd, and talking about how happy she was to play at a record store (and that people buy records again). For the last song, she invited anyone who wanted to come up on stage and crowd, and almost half the crowd took her up on it. She left us wanting more, but it was super fun.

If you do want more, you can see her when her tour hits the much larger Hammerstein Ballroom on April 30. Tickets for that show are still available.
